Message from the 2018 Nominating Committee Chair - Jennifer Christenson
As the immediate Past President of the SYC Women’s Group it is my pleasure to Chair and introduce the 2018 Nominating Committee members who have graciously volunteered their time to select officers for the upcoming year.
Current President - Gina Purdy, Marlee McKibbin, Ina Mae Ceely, Karol Cahan, Sandy Bell, Pam Lowry, Diane Haelsig and Georgia Kurtz
The criteria in selecting Women’s Group officers is as follows: The Nominating Committee will nominate a candidate for President, a person who has been an active member of the Women’s Group for three years and has served on the Women’s Group Executive Board.
And, for the offices of Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer the candidates should have been active members of the Women’s Group and chaired a Women’s Group committee to be eligible.
The names of the nominated 2018/2019 Women’s Group officers will be presented at the May Cruise meeting and additional nominations may be made at that time. The slate of officers will be voted on at that time. We ask that you do not nominate someone without her consent.
If you are unable to attend the April luncheon, ballots will be available at the Front Desk a week prior to the luncheon. Your recommendations will be greatly appreciated and considered during the nominating process.
We look forward to another great year of programs, friendship and activities.
Message from the 2017-2018 President - Gina Purdy
We are on the home stretch to the 2018 Opening Day celebration full of tradition and fun! We are very proud of the Trio and encourage all of you to support them by participating in Opening Day festivities. Growing up no matter how busy we were my dad and I never missed the Opening Ceremonies and I still find it to be a very moving tribute to all who come together to celebrate our love of being on the water. From row boats to mega yachts, from power to sail, from antique to modern, from local rowers to international teams – Opening day brings all communities together!
I want to thank Small Crafters Chair Sally Munn for orchestrating to support Project Linus this year. Big thank you to Dedee Rosen for donating all the fleece we used to create blankets and for setting up a wonderful work shop in the Commodore’s Room. A small group of us came together to become Blanketeers - it was very fun and rewarding. Sally delivered more than 25 handmade washable blankets to be donated to children in need in greater Puget Sound. Great job ladies!!
Our April luncheon program is not to be missed as it features our very talented SYC Women’s Drama Group! There highly anticipated play is titled The Pie Ladies in Deep Water by Sherry Piros. This month’s Dinghy Outing on Wednesday, April 11 will be fabulous as we venture to the wine country (Woodinville) for tastings followed by a fabulous lunch at Chef Bre’s new restaurant Heritage Bar and Grill.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or to find out how to get involved. Participation is encouraged and is always a lot of fun!
April showers bring May flowers! Get out and play in your garden!
will continue collecting new/unused toiletries this year so please continue saving
all those travel size items and recruit family and friends to do the same! We
will have a basket on the check in table for luncheons and a larger marked box
in the coat closet all year.
