Seamanship, Education, and Environment
Boating safety and seamanship education is a priority for many Seattle Yacht Club members. Educational opportunities are available throughout the year at Powerboat and Sailboat Committee meetings, Women's Group programs, and through classes and seminars offered by the Seamanship, Education, and Environment Committee (SEE). All events are open to SYC Members and their guests and some of the events may be open to the public in conjunction with the Membership Development Committee.
Boating Reference Information
The SEE committee also manages a set of web links and short articles of interest to all boaters. Please visit theCruising/References for Boaters web page for more information and resource material.
Educational Opportunities
The SEE Committee presents several lectures, training classes, and tutorials over the boating year. The Educational Calendar below presents these training opportunities. Many of these courses are open to the general public.
Space is limited and we expect all sessions to sell out. Registration and additional course description can be found on-line by clicking on the event description in the calendar below (for logged-in SYC members only).
If you are not able to log onto the members-only part of the web site, sign-up for the classes by calling the SYC Front Desk at 206-325-1000.
You can get your name on our email notification list by contacting Ed Odom (SYC members only).
