Dear SYC Member:Congratulations to Carol Eldridge, our Interim General Manager! I know that Carol has the full support of our professional staff and members as we move into this busy phase of club activities and holiday period preparation and parties. These next few weeks are jam-packed with our traditional “kick-off” events following the Annual Meeting and Change of Watch this next Friday evening. Please make a note of these dates and call the Front Desk for reservations. Plan to be at the Launching Party on Friday, October 12 to welcome our new Flag Officers, Bridge and Trustees. On Saturday, October 13, the Committee Orientation for Chairs, new Trustees and Bridge will get the club year started smoothly. Then, on Saturday afternoon following the Orientation, the Board will hold its fall “Mini-Retreat.” A New Member Fireside Chat is planned for Wednesday, October 17. This is a great opportunity for newer members to get acquainted with the club, its member benefits and learn about getting involved with club committees. It is hard for me to believe that this is my last enewsletter message as your Commodore! I have appreciated the opportunity to highlight many of the fun activities that make SYC such a fun club and many of the incredible individuals who contribute in amazing ways to make this TBGDYCITWWW. Sue Kruller, as Chair of the Club Communications Special Committee, has contributed her considerable skills and experience to the development of the SYC Newsletters as an integral part of our club communications network. Her editing and compositional skills have been invaluable. Thank you, Sue, for your guidance. John Bramstedt keeps the “press wheels” turning and is responsible for the assembly and distribution of the enewsletter every Tuesday. Thank you, John, for accommodating my late submissions. I have been honored to be your Commodore and thank you for the opportunity to serve our great club. Shirley and I have really enjoyed our years representing SYC at our many fabulous club events and also at the activities of the Grand XIV Yacht Clubs of Puget Sound. It has been a real pleasure to work with Jack and Marion and Fred and Karen this past year. The “helm” of SYC will be passed to Jack Sullivan at the end of this week and I know that he, along with Fred Roed and our new Rear Commodore, will provide outstanding leadership for Seattle Yacht Club. Enjoy your club! Ben Cozadd, Commodore Mark your calendar for
