Commodore's Letter
Dear SYC Member:
Where does one start? Another week of superlatives!
I have to begin with the NOOD Regatta – 231 boats participating – over 600 people – more fun than is probably legal. I am so proud of what our Club and our good friends at Corinthian produced that I am just busting my buttons.
We were first approached to sponsor this event last October and while putting on an event of this magnitude was a daunting task, I shook hands on it with George Pringle of Sailing World and our team led by Fleet Captain Sail, Roger Pawley and Event Chair, Bobbi Campbell were off and running. Assisted by a great many or our members and great team work with our friends from Corinthian a world class regatta came together and turned out to be a huge success.
Now we have a full twelve months to out-do ourselves for next year’s event.
Thank you one and all.
Last week was also the SYC Foundation Auction where the gross proceeds reached $42,000. The net proceeds will fund the support that the Foundation gives to the boating activities of young people. In addition to a financial success the event was a great social success. If you missed it, you missed a great party.
Yesterday, Larry McCarthy, Carol Eldridge, John Bramstedt and I visited four of our Outstations, Cortes, Garden Bay, Henry Island and Friday Harbor. Everything is in very good order and the managers are eagerly awaiting your arrival. The more time I spend with our managers, the more impressed I am with their ability and willingness to make our visits to “their” facilities as special as it can be. Jane and Rankin, Vera and Vladimir, Marcia and Dick and Jan are all great assets of the Club and great people to be around. In case you noticed, we did not forget the Vice he wisely and thankfully decided to keep his flu bug at home.
I was told that things would quiet down for the Commodore after Opening Day but if this is quiet something has happened to shrink my days.
All the best,

Jack Sullivan, Commodore
