Commodore's Letter

Dear SYC Member:

Obviously the big event last week for anyone named Sullivan was the annual SYC St. Patrick’s Day party. In spite of horrendous traffic problems, we had 90 adults and 20 kids at what I thought was a great party. Kathy O’Schwartz orchestrated the Blarney contest which included three of our most articulate fellows, Teddy O’Planta, Danny Boy O’Schwartz and Scottie O’Strandjord. Kathy diplomatically judged it a tie.

The music and singing was spectacular (if I do say so myself) and the Comerford dancers were grand.   I especially enjoy how our kids and grandkids react to the dancers. They sit in wide eyed, rapt attention and after the show concludes they give their best imitations.

The interest in Opening Day around the Sound and up in BC is growing every day. I even received a moorage request from one of our friends at the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco.

The Opening Day kickoff party on Friday, March 28 does not involve a waiting list right now but it obviously will. This is one of the fun parties of the year and I especially urge new members to come join the fun.

Finally, safe is good, especially on our boats. Come join the 2nd annual Safety Day on Saturday, April 5.

Have fun,

Commodore

Garlic

Garlic Festival 2008

Saturday, March 29, 2008
Port Madison Outstation

Winter boating is another of the many joys of boat ownership in the Northwest. Long passages
without boat wakes, wide open slip spaces with oodles of shore power, the chance to reunite
with summer boating friends and to meet other all-season boaters.
The annual Garlic Festival provides you the perfect reason to start up those engines and shake
out those sails – boats like to be used and bellies like great food! If your boat is stowed away for
the winter, join us by car, foot or ferry.
Greenbox: 5:00 p.m.
Potluck Dinner & Judging: 6:00 p.m.
Members, friends, and family are welcome.
For more information contact Judy Wiebe at (206) 232-7583, or Cell: (206) 999-8775.
