Tragedy Strikes the Southern Yacht Club
As Hurricane Katrina Devastates the South East
Founded in 1849, the Southern Yacht Club is the second oldest yacht club in the United States. The original structure of the current clubhouse was built in the late 1940's and underwent two major renovations, in the 60's and 80's. A third major renovation to the facility had been approved by the membership just this year.

Come take a virtual tour of the fabulous Herreshoff Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island, and see a professional documentary biography of Nathaniel Herreshoff, one of the most prolific yacht designers and builders of America's Cup boats.
Come see and hear how Herreshoff and his brother created a dynasty in boat building, which lasted right up until World War II when the firm turned its considerable work force of over 3,000 to build Navy torpedo boats.
For anyone who has wondered about the history of Nathaniel Herreshoff and his fabulous and fascinating yachts, this is not to be missed!
