Join us in celebrating the sixth annual SYC Halloween non-event at Port Madison!  October 25th & 26th with fun and games for all!

What’s a Non-Event you say?  By popular demand, this is an informal, unbudgeted, no committee, bring-your-own-everything event.  It’s a chance for SYC members to hang out with other families in a no pressure event.  You bring your own plates, napkins, cups, silverware, decorations, libations, pumpkins, candy, goblins…we pack it all in, haul it all out and have a brilliant time in the process!  This event surpasses itself every year because EVERYONE throws in their energies and creative talents.

Schedule of the weekend looks roughly like this…

Friday, Oct. 24th

Haunted BBQ ressurection

Greenbox for the early arrivals

Saturday, Oct. 25th

Games and puzzles in the clubhouse

Pumpkin carving on the dock

Potluck dinner (A-J main dish, K-T side dish, U-Z dessert)  With all the candy, we can go light on dessert!

Haunted House

Trick-or-treating from boat to boat after sunset!

Sunday, Oct. 26th

Potluck breakfast  (I’ll bring coffee supplies)  Please do the cooking on your boat so nobody has to spend Sunday cleaning bacon grease off the grill – thanks!

Dress up!!  You, kids, boats, the dog…it’s your chance to be a kid again.  (Or for some of us, to continue being a kid without anyone looking at you funny…)

Don’t assume everyone you know is going, and make sure new members and folks you haven’t seen at the event before know that it’s happening.

Bring along a pumpkin (or two!) for carving, your family’s favourite board game or puzzle, and your favourite potluck dishes for dinner and breakfast.  Don’t forget candy for the trick or treaters!  I’ll hit Oriental Trading for some little prezzies and glow necklaces for the kids.  If someone else was willing to pick up a package or two of glow necklaces, the adults could play too!  Some tablecloths always help as well.  Let me know if you can bring some…. If you have room on board for an extra pumpkin or two, I’m sure it will be put to good use.

Dave has been working hard on planning the Haunted Barbecue – drop him a line if you want to pitch in!  We’ll be arriving Thursday night to start getting things set up.

A couple notes – as many of you are aware, Port Madison is under construction.  As of this writing, the docks, foc’sle, clubhouse and barbecue are in top shape and ready for our arrival.  But there is no play structure yet, and the sport court isn’t yet ready for prime time.  PLEASE respect any cones, ropes, tapes or other items protecting construction zones.  The small boat center is under way, but is off limits during construction.  Your extra caution in this transition time is much appreciated!

Any questions? Ask me! ;)
