Event Schedule (preliminary)
- 09:00 - 10:30 - Kick-off lecture by local boaters and authors James and Jennifer Hamilton. They will present how they rigged their 40' Bayliner to voyage safely in the remotest corners of Queen Charlotte Sound and regions beyond. The Hamiltons are authors of Waggoner sister publication Cruising the Secret Coast and maintain a cruising web site and blog at mvdirona.com. The photos of their voyages are fantastic and their experience in boating safely in the remote parts of our cruising area are extremely valuable.
- 10:30 - 13:30 - visit the more than 20 booths of local vendors of boating gear and services and gather information on safe boating practices from Local, State, and Federal agencies. Visit the docks and take part in hands-on demonstrations of flares, man over board drill, fire putting out, and other fun stuff. Fill your SYC Safe Boating Passport to enter the drawing for fabulous prizes. Eat lunch at your leisure.
- 13:30 - 15:00 - Workshop of all participants to discuss safe boating practices. Handouts and check lists of several topics will be discussed and prepared during the sessions -- share your experiences and knowledge.
- 15:00 - 15:15 - Quick raffle prize drawing for those who earned tickets by: a) completing the Passport, b) by pre-registering, and c) by just showing up.
Pre-registration is important for our planning and for the club to know how many people to expect for lunch.
