2004 JAM Regatta Report and Results

Johnny Adams Memorial Regatta (JAM) September 18-19 2004

JAM was hosted by the Port Madison Yacht Club and run out of Fay Bainbridge State Park. With more than enough wind Saturday, gusts up to 20 knots, and Sunday seeing light and shifty breeze we had enough different types of conditions to please all. By the end of the regatta the race committee was able to complete seven races in the 29er and 420 fleets, eight races in the Laser and Laser Radial, and nine in the Optimist fleet. Not only was the JAM regatta the eighth regatta of the NWYRC but it was also the Cressy Trophy qualifier for our district earning those who qualified a spot at the ISSA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SINGLE HANDED CHAMPIONSHIP. We had 23 Race Team Members sailing under the burgee and many of whom had great performances. One of these performances was by Derick Vranizan who finished 5th in a challenging Laser fleet. His performance earned him the top spot in the fight for the Cressy Trophy, qualifying him for the ISSA National High School Single Handed Championships in Lake Minnetonka, MN. We also had strong performances in each of the other fleets with Katy Cenname finishing first in the Optimist Blue Fleet, Blake Hansen finishing seventh in the Laser Radial fleet, Blair Sargent with Will Putnam finishing second in the 29er fleet, and Brian Pistay with Erika Vranizan finishing first in the 420 fleet. For complete results stay tuned to the Race Team web site. With two more regattas left in the NWYRC season I am sure we will see more racing to come so check back soon. Our next regatta will be the Octoberfest on the 2nd and 3rd which will be held at Sail Sand Point on Lake Washington.
