Education and Training
Boating safety and seamanship education is a priority for many Seattle Yacht Club members. Educational opportunities are available throughout the year at Powerboat and Sailboat Committee meetings, Women's Group programs, classes offered by the Seamanship, Education, and Environment (SEE Committee) (ex-Marine Traffic, Environment and Safety Committee), and the Boating Education Series offered this year at our Elliott Bay Marina Clubhouse. While some of the programs are only available to club members, many of the events are open to the public.
This section of the SYC website is the centralized source of information for all educational events, both boating and social. We welcome ideas for additional educational programming; please send your suggestions to webmaster@seattleyachtclub.org for forwarding to the proper group.

SYCBES- Seattle Yacht Club Boating Education Series
Welcome to the second season of the Boating Education Series, and mark your calendars for the second Thursday of each month starting in October and ending in May! Just like last year, the Club will arrange two interesting topics presented by excellent speakers for each event, and there will be plenty of opportunity for camaraderie and discussion of all things boating while enjoying complimentary snacks and beverages.
The seminars offered by the Boating Education Series are located at the Seattle Yacht Club station at Elliott Bay Marina. Starting at 6PM, there will be two 45-minute presentations with refreshments & snacks in-between hosted by Seattle Yacht Club and Elliott Bay Marina.
These events are perfect for introducing prospective SYC members to the opportunities for education and camaraderie afforded by club membership, so make certain to bring along a fellow boating enthusiast who would be a great addition to the club. Space is limited so be certain to register with the front desk by calling (206) 325-1000.
All boaters, including non-members, are welcome, so come join us! For details contact: Suzi Ward, 206-992-2915, suziwardwebb@msn.com or Bruce Lingle, 206-799-1667, brucel@collisioncliniccarstar.com.
